DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS NO MR. REINDL đł Across the street from their first CafĂ© stands the traffic construction Schottentor, which is the inspiration for their name. Mayor Franz Jonas built it in 1961. The word âReindlâ is Viennese for an oval cooking pan. Since this tram station resembles a Reindlâs shape, the locals dubbed it âJonas Reindlâ Amazing! If your ever in Vienna make @jonasreindlcoffeeroasters your first stop, you wonât be disappointed đ€đ» Todayâs coffee comes from Kinyovu Washing Station, which is located in Rango town in the province of Kayanza. About 3,800 producers deliver cherry to this station, either directly or to one of 34 different local collection points.
Farmers here own less than half a hectare of land, on average, and in addition to growing coffee, they also grow crops like bananas, beans, yams, taro, and cassava, both for sale and for household use.
Due to the small size and yield on the average coffee farm or plot, washing stations are the primary point of purchase for us in Burundi. Unlike other coffee-growing regions in Central and South America where landholdings are slightly larger and coffee-centric resources are more available, most producers do not have space on their property or the financial means to do their wet- or dry-milling. Instead, the majority of growers deliver cherry to a facility that does sorting, blending, and post-harvest processing of day lots to create different offerings.
Since 2006, Jonas Reindl have cupped coffees from more than 50 washing stations in an attempt to pinpoint those with the best practices, cleanest cups, and most high-quality nearby farms. While the logistics of buying coffees from Burundi are extremely challenging, they love the heavy figgy, fruity, and lively coffees they find hereâthey remind them of a Malbec, with a firm support of acidity.

Farm: Kinyovu Washing Station Origin: Burundi Variety: Bourbon, Jackson, Mibirizi Process: Washed Altitude: 1880 masl TASTE NOTES
Itâs Very Tea like with lots of floral notes on the nose and in the cup, it reminded me of Chamomile tea with a hint of Honey squeezed in for Sweetness đ. There was definitely a Creamy Mouthful and a nutty Aftertaste which resembled Hazelnuts. A great acidity that was citrus like but very low with a great smooth finish. It was sort of like drinking one of those @pukkaherbs Teas đŹ T H E S C O R E đđđđđđđđ 8/10
